Tongarewa International Scholarship

About the scholarship

This scholarship is to recognise high-achieving international students who enrolled in a Victoria University of Wellington undergraduate or postgraduate program for the first time. If granted, you will receive support of NZ$5,000 or NZ$10,000, depending on your academic excellence record.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Pay full fees for international students.
  • Entering the first year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

Please note that you are not qualified for this scholarship if you:

  • Have completed secondary school in New Zealand.
  • Have completed an English for Academic Purposes or Foundation Program.
  • Have completed a Study Abroad program from one of Victoria University of Wellington’s overseas partner universities.

How to apply

You need to apply online through the university website, and in your application, you need to include the following documents:

  • Qualification document (e.g., certificate and academic transcripts).
  • An offer letter from Victoria University of Wellington.

Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver

About the scholarship

Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver is to encourage Victoria University of Wellington alumni to study again at this university as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student.

A tuition fee discount of 20% for the first academic year will be awarded to:

  • Alumni who apply within 12 months of completion of an eligible program at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Study Abroad alumni who apply within 12 months of completion of their Study Abroad program.
  • Study Abroad and Exchange alumni who apply within 12 months of completion at their home university.

If you apply after 12 months of completion of your studies, then you will receive a discount of 15% only.

Eligibility

You must:

  • Be Victoria University of Wellington international alumni.
  • Return to the university for full-time study.
  • Meet the admissions requirements for the course you are applying for.
  • Get a letter of offer from Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Pay the full international tuition fee, without any discounts, waivers, or scholarships.

How to apply

You must submit a complete application via the university website before 4.30pm of the due date (Trimester 1: 1 February; Trimester 2: 1 June; Trimester 3: 1 October)

Latin America Academic Achievement Scholarship

About the scholarship

This scholarship is to encourage and support high-achieving Latin America students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Victoria University of Wellington. A discount of NZ$5,000 per year will be offered to those who demonstrate a strong academic record, experience in extracurricular and the ability on internationalisation.

Eligibility

To be qualified for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a new student at Victoria University of Wellington. You were not enrolled in any course at this university before (except for Foundation and English for Academic Purposes programs).
  • Enrol as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student (PhD, Study Abroad, and Exchange students are not eligible for this scholarship).
  • Meet entry requirement for the course you are enrolled in.

How to apply

You must apply online through the university website and must include a statement that highlights how you are involved in extracurricular activities, why you are interested in internationalisation, what your motivations and future goals are.

Victoria University of Wellington Study Abroad Scholarship

About the scholarship

A scholarship of NZ$1,000 will be awarded to international students who enrolled in Study Abroad and Exchange programs at Victoria University of Wellington and willing to join marketing activities promoting Study Abroad and Exchange programs to other students.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have applied to a Study Abroad program as an international student.
  • Get a letter of offer from Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Have a GPA of at least 2.7 (out of 4.0).
  • Start your study as outlined in your letter of offer.

How to apply

You must submit your application online via the university website. In your application, you must include either a statement (less than 300 words) or a video (less than 2 minutes) to show benefits that the Study Aboard in New Zealand will bring to you and what you expect to experience in Wellington.

International School-Leaver Excellence Scholarship

About the scholarship

This scholarship is for international students who have completed at least 2 years of full-time study at a New Zealand high school, then have enrolled in an undergraduate program at Victoria University of Wellington in Trimester 1. Eligibility

You must:

  • Be an international student who pays full fees for an undergraduate program at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Have completed a minimum of 2 years at a secondary school in New Zealand.
  • Have NCEA Level 2 (or Level 3 if taken in Year 12) with an Excellence Record (or equivalent).

How to apply

You must submit your application online via the university’s website. In your application, you must attach the followings:

  • A reference letter from your secondary school principal or nominee
  • A personal statement showing why you are deserved for this scholarship

New Zealand International School Leaver Grant

About the scholarship

New Zealand International School Leaver Grant is to attract international students who are currently studying at a high school in New Zealand to pursue their study at Victoria University of Wellington. Financial support of NZ$2,000 will be offered to eligible students.

Eligibility

You must:

  • Have completed at least 1 year study at a secondary school at New Zealand
  • Obtain letter of offer from Victoria University of Wellington
  • Enrol in Victoria University of Wellington as a full-time student

How to apply

You don’t need to apply for this scholarship as you will be automatically considered for this scholarship when apply to Victoria University of Wellinton.

Automatic Master’s Scholarships

A scholarship valued at NZ$5,000 -NZ$10,000 will be awarded to all international students who meet the admission requirements for a master’s degree at Victoria University of Wellington. However, this scholarship is open to the following courses only:

  • Master of Conservation Biology
  • Master of International Trade
  • Master of Marine Conservation

Faculty of Law International Students LLM Fee Scholarship

About the scholarship

Eligibility

You must:

  • Be an international student who will pay full fee to study at Faculty of Law
  • Have good academic records and show financial hardship
