International Student Excellence Scholarship

About the scholarship

The University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship is to recognise high achieving international students who enrol in an Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma or Masters Program at this university.

Each scholarship has a value of up to NZ$10,000, and there will be up to 50 seats allocated for this scholarship each year.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student
  • Be either a new student who enrols directly in one of undergraduate, postgraduate program at the University of Auckland, or an English Language Academy student or a Summer Start International program student who receives the university’s unconditional/conditional offer for an undergraduate/postgraduate program.
  • Enrol as a full-time student
  • Have at least a GPA of 6.0/7.0
  • The selection criteria for this scholarship include academic merit, the quality of application letter and the quality of reference letters.

India High Achievers Scholarship

About the scholarship

The University of Auckland India High Achievers Scholarship is to recognise high achieving students from India who enroll in an Undersgraduate, Postgraduate Diploma or Masters Program at this university.

Each scholarship has a value of up to NZ$20,000, and there will be up to 30 seats allocated for this scholarship each year.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student who holds an Indian passport.
  • Live outside of New Zealand at the time you apply for this scholarship.
  • Be either a new student who enrolls directly in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University of Auckland, or an English Language Academy student or a Summer Start International program student who receives the university’s unconditional/conditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate program.
  • Have at least a GPA of 6.0.
  • Enroll as a full-time student.
  • The selection criteria for this scholarship include academic merit, the quality of the application letter, and the quality of reference letters.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, you can’t concurrently hold another scholarship from the University of Auckland such as the University of Auckland International Scholarship.

Student Excellence Scholarship or a University of Auckland International Business Masters Scholarship.

ASEAN High Achievers Scholarship

About the scholarship

The University of Auckland ASEAN High Achievers Scholarship is to recognise high achieving students from Asian countries (e.g, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Lao, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei…), who enroll in an Undersgraduate, Postgraduate Diploma or Masters Program at this university.

Each scholarship has a value of up to NZ$10,000, and there will be up to 30 seats allocated for this scholarship each year.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student holding a passport from one of the Asian countries.
  • Live outside of New Zealand at the time you apply for this scholarship.
  • Be either a new student enrolling directly in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University of Auckland, or an English Language Academy student, or a Summer Start International program student who receives the university’s unconditional/conditional offer for an undergraduate/postgraduate program.
  • Have at least a GPA of 6.0.
  • Enroll as a full-time student.
  • The selection criteria for this scholarship include academic merit, the quality of the application letter, and the quality of reference letters.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, you cannot concurrently hold another scholarship from the University of Auckland, such as the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship or the University of Auckland International Business Masters Scholarship.

Foundation Pathway High Achiever Award

About the scholarship

This scholarship is to recognise high-achieving students who have completed a Foundation program from one of the University of Auckland’s partners (e.g., UP Education and Study Group) and wish to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at The University of Auckland.

Ten Awards of NZ$20,000 each will be provided for full-time students who achieve the highest score in the UP Education Foundation programs each intake. In addition, five Awards of NZ$20,000 each will be allocated to full-time students who achieve the highest score in the Foundation programs organised by Study Group each intake.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student.
  • Have completed all the requirements for the Foundation program.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Auckland in the next available semester right after you complete your Foundation program.

Scholarship awardees can concurrently hold another scholarship from the University of Auckland as long as they get approval from the University of Auckland Council.

ELA High Achiever Award

About the scholarship

This scholarship is to recognise high-achieving students who enrolled in the University of Auckland’s Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes and are holding an undergraduate conditional offer from University of Auckland. There will be 10 seats available for this scholarship, and each scholarship will value up to NZ$5000.

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student or have paid the full tuition fee for the Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes.
  • Wish to enrol in an undergraduate program at the University of Auckland.

Doctoral Scholarship for International Students

About the scholarship

This scholarship will cover all the costs for you to study a doctoral program at the University of Auckland, which includes:

  • Tuition fees for 3 years of study.
  • A tax-free stipend of NZ$33,825 per year.
  • Student health insurance for a single person.
  • Possibility to extend the scholarship for a further 6 months.

Eligibility

  • You need to be offered a place in a doctoral program at the University of Auckland to be considered for this scholarship. You don’t need to apply separately.
  • To get the offer letter, you must at least meet the doctoral entry requirements:
    • Academic requirements: You are required to have completed a bachelor’s degree (honours) or a master’s degree with the equivalent B+ grade in a relevant field.
    • English requirements: You need to obtain at least an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no band score under 5.5.
    • You will also need to submit a research proposal that was prepared in consultation with your proposed supervisor.

How to apply

  • You need to apply for a doctoral program at the University of Auckland to be considered for the University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship.
  • There are four annual rounds to apply for this scholarship. You must apply before the cut-off date. To commence your study in 2025, you must lodge your application by 01 November 2024.
