Entry Requirements
English Language Proficiency Requirement:
- For undergraduate programs, you are required to have at least an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no band score under 5.5.
- For postgraduate programs, you are required to have at least an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no band score under 6.0.
Academic Requirement:
- To enroll in Bachelor programs, you are required to have completed High School qualifications in New Zealand or your home country. The minimum grade required will depend on each study program.
- To enroll in Taught Maters programs, you need to have completed a bachelor degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand or an acceptable equivalent oversea qualification.
- To enroll in Research Maters programs, you must have completed a bachelor honours degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand or an acceptable equivalent overseas qualification.
Tuition Fee for International Students
The tuition fee varies, depending on each program. However, as of 2024, the tuition fee ranges from NZ$30,550 to NZ$ $44,950.

Tongarewa International Scholarship
This scholarship is to recognise high-achieving international students who enrolled in a Victoria University of Wellington undergraduate or postgraduate program for the first time. If granted, you will receive a support of NZ$5,000 or NZ$10,000, depending on your academic excellence record. Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver
Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver is to encourage Victoria University of Wellington alumni to study again at this university as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student.
A tuition fee discount of 20% for the first academic year will be awarded to:
- Alumni who apply within 12 months of completion of an eligible program at Victoria University of Wellington
- Study Abroad alumni who apply within 12 months of completion of their Study Abroad program
- Study Abroad and Exchange alumni who apply within 12 months of completion of their home university
If you apply after 12 months of completion of your studies, then you will receive a discount of 15% only.

Latin America Academic Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship is to encourage and support high-achieving Latin America students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Victoria University of Wellington. A discount of NZ$5,000 per year will be offered to those who demonstrate a strong academic record, experience in extracurricular and the ability on internationalisation. A scholarship of NZ$1,000 will be awarded to international students who enrolled in Study Abroad and Exchange programs at Victoria University of Wellington and willing to join marketing activities promoting Study Abroad and Exchange programs to other students. International School-Leaver Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship is for international students who have completed at least 2 years of full-time study at a New Zealand high school, then have enrolled in an undergraduate program at Victoria University of Wellington in Trimester 1. New Zealand International School Leaver Grant
New Zealand International School Leaver Grant is to attract international students who are currently studying at a high school in New Zealand to pursue their study at Victoria University of Wellington. Automatic Master’s Scholarships
A scholarship valued at NZ$5,000 -NZ$10,000 will be awarded to all international students who meet the admission requirements for a master’s degree at Victoria University of Wellington. However, this scholarship is open to the following courses only:

Faculty of Law International Students LLM Fee Scholarship
