Massey University Overview

Massey University is known for its comprehensive range of training programs, innovative research, and strong industry connections. For example, Massey veterinary programs are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, so international students can work in the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries after graduation.

Entry Requirements

English Language Proficiency Requirement:

  • For undergraduate programs, you are required to have at least an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no band score under 5.5.
  • For postgraduate programs, you are required to have at least an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no band score under 6.0.

Academic Requirement:

  • To enrol in Bachelor programs, you are required to have completed High School qualifications in New Zealand or your home country. The minimum grade required will depend on each study program.
  • To enrol in Taught Maters programs, you need to have completed a bachelor degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand or an acceptable equivalent oversea qualification.  
  • To enrol in Research Maters programs, you must have completed a bachelor honours degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand or an acceptable equivalent overseas qualification. 

Tuition Fee for International Students

The tuition fees for international students vary, depending on the courses and the level of study.  

  • Undergraduate programs: The tuition fees range from NZ$30,450 to NZ$44,660 per year. The Veterinary courses may be more expensive, with the tuition fees for Year 1 from NZ$53,050 to NZ$74,950 per year, and the tuition fees for years 2 to 5 of NZ$74,950. 
  • Postgraduate certificate: The fees for the whole course are from NZ$17,330 – NZ$22,680  
  • Postgraduate diploma: Ranges from NZ$34,650 – NZ$44,360 for the whole course 
  • Master programs:  Ranges from NZ$53,030 – NZ$66,150 for the whole course

Scholarships for International Students

Business Excellence Scholarship

Business Excellence Scholarship valued at NZ$7,000 will be awarded to eligible international students who enrolled fulltime at Massey Business School. This scholarship will consider the extra activities that you participate in during secondary school. You should have been the leader of a club/group or the captain of a sports team. MBA awards

MBA awards 

You will have a chance to receive a scholarship up to NZ$6,000 when enrolling in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Massey University. Below is what you can receive:  

  • Excellence in Scholarship Award: A financial assistance of NZ$2,000 will be offered to those who have obtained at least grade A- in their undergraduate program.  
  • Experienced Professional Award: If you have five or more years of work experience (on a full-time basis), you will be considered for an award of NZ$2,000. 
  • Masterful Learning Award: If you have already obtained a master’s degree and enrolled in a MBA program at Massey, you may receive an award of NZ$2,000.

Massey University Foundation Peer Scholar Award

Massey University Foundation Peer Scholar Award is to recognise the individuals who will be able to become an ambassador or leaders of the Scholar Massey Program. In this role, you will help other peers to achieve their personal and professional goals, through which, you can develop skills for yourself. Financial assistance of up to NZ$6,000 will be given to 12 qualified awardees each year.
