About the Scholarship

The Australia Awards Scholarships, funded by the Australian Government, offer opportunities for individuals from developing countries to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities, including RMIT University. These scholarships aim to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to the development outcomes of their home countries.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Australia Awards Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Citizenship: Be a citizen of a participating country.
  • Residency: Permanently reside in their country of citizenship.
  • Academic Qualifications: Meet the specific academic requirements of the program they intend to undertake.
  • English Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in English, typically through an IELTS or TOEFL test.
  • Other Requirements: Satisfy any additional criteria set by the applicant’s country and the Australian Government.

Academic Merit Scholarship (Southeast Asia)

About the Scholarship

The Academic Merit Scholarship is designed to attract high-achieving students from Southeast Asia to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate programs at RMIT University. The scholarship provides a 20% tuition fee reduction for the entire program duration.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Citizenship: Be a citizen of Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam
  • Academic Achievement: Have a strong academic record, meeting the program-specific entry requirements.
  • Program Enrolment: Be enrolled in an eligible RMIT program.

Application Deadlines

  • Opening Date: Applications are open for programs year round.
  • It’s important to note that this scholarship has limited availability and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Future Leaders Scholarship

About the Scholarship

The Future Leaders Scholarship aims to support outstanding international students commencing an undergraduate or postgraduate program at RMIT University. The scholarship offers a 20% tuition fee reduction for the program’s duration.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • International Student Status: Be a citizen of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal or Pakistan (including dual citizenship holding one of these country’s passport)
  • Academic Excellence: Demonstrate high academic achievement in previous studies.
  • Program Application: Have an offer letter to commence from 2025 intakes onwards in one of the following programs* at RMIT:

English to Foundation Studies Pathway Bursary

About the Bursary
The English to Foundation Studies Pathway Bursary is designed for international students planning to study an English language pathway leading to an RMIT Foundation Studies course in 2025. This bursary provides a 20% tuition fee reduction for the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) English Language pathways program. It is available to students from specific regions and is aimed at supporting their academic transition to RMIT University.

Eligible Regions
The bursary is available to offshore students from the following regions:

  • China, Hong Kong SAR
  • South-East Asia: Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia
  • North Asia: Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea
  • Eligible Study Period: From 4 July 2025 to September 2026.

Eligibility
To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Offshore Application: Must apply from outside Australia.
  • Packaged Offer: Must have a package offer that includes ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students), RMIT Foundation Studies, and an RMIT award course.
  • Eligible Citizenship: Must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries (listed above).

Application Deadlines

  • Opening Date: Applications are open now.
  • Closing Date: Refer to RMIT’s admissions office or website for any specified intake deadlines.

How to Apply

  1. Choose an Eligible Course:
    Select a course at RMIT that can be packaged with an EAP and/or Foundation Studies program.
  2. Submit Your Application:
    Apply to study at RMIT and indicate in the application form that you want to package your course with EAP and/or Foundation Studies.
  3. After Your Application:
    • If successful, you will receive an offer letter outlining the bursary details.
    • If you’ve already accepted an offer, the bursary will be applied automatically to your English for Academic Purposes tuition fees and Foundation Studies. Any excess prepaid tuition fees will be transferred to your RMIT University course.

Terms and Conditions

  • The bursary is only available to students who apply from outside Australia.
  • The bursary applies exclusively to the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tuition fees during the specified study period (4 July 2025 – September 2026).
  • Applicants must hold a valid ELICOS + RMIT Foundation Studies + RMIT award course package offer.
  • It is limited to citizens of eligible countries listed above.

NOTE: There are up to 8 more scholarships available based on the major you undertake in your bachelor’s or master’s degree, your study location, and your HDR research topics.
